Medical Weight Loss Programs
Physician-supervised, evidence-based weight loss built around your bloodwork, your metabolism, and your goals. Not a fad diet. Not a one-size-fits-all program. A medical protocol designed specifically for your body.
What Is Medical Weight Loss?
Medical weight loss is a physician-supervised, evidence-based approach to weight management that uses prescription medications, diagnostic testing, and ongoing clinical monitoring to help patients lose weight safely and sustainably.
Obesity is not a lifestyle failure — it is a chronic metabolic condition influenced by hormones, genetics, neurochemistry, and environmental factors. When you diet without medical guidance, your body fights back through metabolic adaptation: hunger hormones increase, satiety hormones decrease, your metabolic rate slows, and cravings amplify. This is why 80-95% of people who lose weight through dieting alone regain it within two to five years.
Medical weight loss breaks that cycle by using medications that target the hormonal and neurological systems driving weight gain. At Rewind Anti-Aging of Miami, we run labs, analyze data, prescribe the right medication for your specific physiology, and adjust your treatment as your body responds.
Why Medical Supervision Matters
Weight loss medications are powerful tools — but they require proper medical oversight for safety and effectiveness.
Identifying Underlying Conditions
Hypothyroidism, insulin resistance, low testosterone, elevated cortisol — many undiagnosed conditions directly contribute to weight gain and make losing weight nearly impossible without treatment.
Medication Safety & Interactions
GLP-1 drugs affect gastric emptying and oral medication absorption. Tesofensine interacts with antidepressants. A physician reviews your complete medication list and selects the safest pathway.
Ongoing Monitoring & Adjustment
As you lose weight, your metabolic rate changes and hormonal profile shifts. Regular follow-ups allow dosing adjustments, medication switches, and lab rechecks to keep you on track.
Medications Available
Four distinct pathways, each with a different mechanism and ideal patient profile. Your treatment matches your physiology — not our inventory. Read our comparison of the difference between tirzepatide and semaglutide to learn how our two most popular GLP-1 medications compare.
GLP-1 Receptor Agonist
Semaglutide (Ozempic / Wegovy)
Once-weekly injection. FDA-approved for chronic weight management. Suppresses appetite, slows gastric emptying, improves insulin sensitivity.
14.9% avg. body weight loss (STEP 1 trial, 68 weeks)
Learn more →Dual GLP-1/GIP Receptor Agonist
Tirzepatide (Mounjaro / Zepbound)
Once-weekly injection. The most powerful injectable weight loss medication available. Activates two incretin receptors simultaneously.
22.5% avg. body weight loss (SURMOUNT-1 trial, 72 weeks)
Learn more →Triple Monoamine Reuptake Inhibitor
Tesofensine
Daily oral capsule. Blocks reabsorption of dopamine, serotonin, and noradrenaline — reducing appetite and increasing resting metabolic rate.
Up to 10.6% body weight loss (Phase II, 24 weeks)
Learn more →Metabolic Support
Lipotropic Injections (MIC + B12)
Intramuscular injections 1-2x/week. Methionine, inositol, choline, and B12 support fat metabolism, liver function, and energy production.
Best as complement to primary medication

The Role of Hormones in Weight Management
One of the most overlooked factors in weight gain — and one of the most common reasons diets fail — is hormonal imbalance. We test for and treat hormonal contributors as part of our integrated approach.
Testosterone
Low testosterone leads to increased visceral fat, reduced lean muscle, lower energy, and decreased motivation. Optimizing testosterone alongside weight loss medication frequently produces accelerated results.
Explore hormone therapy →Thyroid Hormones
Even subclinical hypothyroidism slows metabolic rate and makes weight loss extraordinarily difficult. Correcting a sluggish thyroid can be the single most impactful intervention for patients who "do everything right" but cannot lose weight.
Insulin & Cortisol
Chronically elevated insulin drives fat storage and blocks fat burning. Elevated cortisol promotes visceral fat accumulation and increases cravings for calorie-dense foods. Both are identifiable through bloodwork.
Who Should Consider Medical Weight Loss?
- BMI of 30 or greater (obesity)
- BMI of 27 or greater with weight-related conditions (diabetes, hypertension, sleep apnea)
- History of failed diets — the problem is likely biological, not motivational
- Suspected hormonal contributors (fatigue, low libido, brain fog alongside weight gain)
- Metabolic plateau despite continued effort
- Seeking accountability, structure, and medical oversight
Medical weight loss may not be necessary for patients with a BMI under 27 who have no weight-related health conditions and have not yet attempted structured diet and exercise. We will tell you honestly if lifestyle modifications alone are the right starting point.

Frequently Asked Questions
What makes medical weight loss different from a regular diet?
Medical weight loss is a physician-supervised program that uses prescription medications, comprehensive bloodwork, and ongoing monitoring to address the biological causes of weight gain — not just calories in and calories out. Diets rely on willpower to fight your body's hormonal signals. Medical weight loss uses medications that change those signals at the source, targeting appetite regulation, metabolic rate, insulin resistance, and hormonal imbalances that make it nearly impossible to lose weight and keep it off through diet alone.
What blood tests do you run before starting treatment?
We order a comprehensive panel that includes: complete metabolic panel (CMP), complete blood count (CBC), lipid panel, fasting insulin, hemoglobin A1c, thyroid panel (TSH, free T3, free T4), total and free testosterone, estradiol, liver enzymes (ALT, AST), kidney function markers, and vitamin D. This gives us a complete picture of your metabolic, hormonal, and organ function status — and often reveals underlying factors contributing to weight gain that other programs miss.
How do I know which weight loss medication is right for me?
Your provider recommends a medication based on your lab results, health history, weight loss goals, medication preferences (oral vs. injection), and any contraindications. Semaglutide and tirzepatide are first-line options for most patients. Tesofensine may be appropriate for patients who prefer an oral medication or have not responded to GLP-1 drugs. Lipotropic injections complement any primary medication. We can also adjust or switch medications during treatment if your initial response is not optimal.
Do I need to exercise while on weight loss medication?
Exercise is strongly recommended but not strictly required for weight loss on these medications. The medications produce a caloric deficit primarily through appetite suppression (and in some cases increased metabolism), so most patients lose weight even without a structured exercise program. However, exercise — particularly resistance training — helps preserve lean muscle mass during weight loss, improves cardiovascular health, enhances mood, and significantly improves long-term weight maintenance after treatment.
How much does medical weight loss cost at Rewind?
Cost varies based on the medication prescribed, dosage, and treatment duration. We discuss pricing transparently during your initial consultation so there are no surprises. Most of our services are wellness-based and not billed through insurance, though some lab work may be covered depending on your plan. Lab work is completed at a facility convenient to you, and medications are shipped directly to your home.
